Hi, my name is Katrice and I am here to connect with you and others who are curious about the power of words and stories in creating our beliefs about ourselves and each other.

My Story

I was born in a slum in Birmingham to parents who were rich in the mouth but empty in the pocket.

As a child I was speech impaired and became a selective mute and a result of this I was classed as ESN (Educationally Sub-normal) for the first few years of my school life. It was in reading that I escaped from this dark and shadowy forest of my childhood. In stories I lost myself and found myself.

I went on to become the UK’s National Storytelling Laureate. Words became the tool through which I connected with people all around the world, they still are. I am now a Narrative Consultant, inspirational speaker and performance storyteller. Stories are the main key for me, in helping people connect with themselves, each other and the more-than-human-world.

I offer my words to you as a gift.

A gift from a woman who lost her voice.

A gift from a woman who lost her edges

A gift from a woman lost her worth

A gift from a woman who lost her wildling self.

I offer my words as a gift.

A gift from a woman who found her voice

A gift from a woman who defined her edges

A gift from a woman who claimed her worth

A gift from a woman whose wildling-self found her

Called her by name and broke the Spell.

A woman who waits for you to join her

To raise the voices of your Wildling Selves

To break the Spell

To spin our threads together

To weave the power of Us

To weave community

To weave belonging

And to let our bellies be our North Stars.

Why I am here.

I want us to become aware of the Dominant Narrative (The Spell) that we live in.

I want us to reconnect with that elemental part of ourselves -

The you-ness of you and the me-ness of me, when all of the stories we have ever been told about ourselves are stripped away. Because:

Somewhere out there in the wild fairytale forest of your life that vital and true part of yourself is waiting to be named and welcomed home.

We live in stories and are made of stories and I have found that the best way to become aware of them is through returning to the old stories and myths. Within these we find our true selves as an integral part of a greater ecology and belonging.

I have worked all around the world for over 40 years, telling stories as well as developing training that has narrative at its core. From Palestine to Singapore, Indonesia to Ireland . In this time I have found that in spite of all the forces telling us we need to protect ourselves from those that are ‘other,’ we still share one narrative, the one that tells us what is is to be human.

The one where we love and feel loved
Where we feel joy and fear,
Doubt and envy,
Passion and grief.
Yearning and wonder

It is here that we all connect and yet we live in a world that is pushing division as the dominant narrative.

It is not.

This is untrue.

Let us build bridges of stories to help us meet each other and ourselves. Come and be part of the Story.

What I can give you.

All subscribers will receive a newsletter every two weeks into their inbox. This will be a mix of my work and my thoughts. Often this mixes ecology with biology to help us look at ourselves and the world around us in different ways. Think of them as kaleidoscopes that offer you different patterns of what you already know.

If you choose a paid subscription you will be invited to seminars, discussions and performances. You will also receive a 10% discount on any courses that I run. I also want to set up a Storytelling Salon where I share a traditional story and offer an exercise to you all. This will help us deconstruct some of the stories we hold and view them in a different way. Plus all paid subscribers will receive my Mythcelium newsletters. A combination of myth, natural world and what it is to be human at this moment in time.

Plus I will be so grateful to you for your financial support.

Be part of the Story

Come and belong to a community of people who share an interest in taking ownership of their own story. Become the ‘mythcelium’ that connects us to each other and the more-than-human- world.

I am an award-winning international storyteller and narrative consultant. Passionate about words and their impact on our behaviour, identity and beliefs. Essentially untangling the ‘me-ness’ of me to help others do the same.
