Narratives as Navigation Tools
How stories help us navigate and make sense of our internal and external landscapes.
Hello Wildlings,
I have really enjoyed writing this particular newsletter. It combines all of my passions; landscape, ecology, myths and fairytales. In writing it, I braid together how I have used Arthurian Tales to help young men who are ‘at risk’ navigate and identify what is important to them and how they can to protect it. I include some really exciting new research about how the Vikings used stories and landscape features to navigate their boats around coastlines, and I also include what stories helped me navigate the dark, fairytale forest of my childhood. This is my favourite type of writing, combining: The sharpness of facts The softness of memories The enchantment of stories The truth of myths
I really hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Just to let you all know, this is my first newsletter purely for paid subscribers - I want them to know how important they are and how they are helping me value my knowledge and skills and make it possible for me to give more time to them. If you are not a paid subscriber yet, please consider taking out a subscription, even if it is only for a month. It would mean so much to me.
